Vivian Glyck

Show Description:
Vivian Glyck just returned from visiting lifesaving dental and medical clinics and schools she established in Uganda, East Africa. Now the humanitarian mom plans to host an “African Thanksgiving” to benefit her Just Like My Child Foundation (http://www.JustLikeMyChild.org). The benefit will be held Nov. 19 at the world-renowned home of John and Maria Assaraf (featured in the hit movie, "The Secret") in Rancho Santa Fe, CA (an exclusive community in San Diego). It will feature remarks by author, speaker and global visionary Deepak Chopra as well as African music, dance and fine dining for 250 guests. The African Thanksgiving celebrates Just Like My Child Foundation’s third year of saving lives and empowering women and children in a community of 600,000 people and 48 villages in central Uganda. Vivian started Just Like My Child because she was eager to make a difference in the lives of other mothers and children. She hopes the group’s work and the African Thanksgiving will enable many people to know the joy of helping to save and enrich lives.

Guest Bio:

Vivian Glyck is the founder and executive director of Just Like My Child. She founded the organization following the birth of her son, Zak. Having experienced the love of a mother for her child, Vivian Glyck realized that mothers around the world loved their children as much as she did. After learning about the horrific numbers of children dying from malaria and being orphaned by the AIDS epidemic, Vivian Glyck realized she wanted to make a difference in the world.
She founded Just Like My Child in 2006, and the organization has successfully raised money to assist the people of central Uganda in having better access to quality healthcare, nutrition, a good education, and microfinance loans. By connecting directly with local organizations, Just Like My Child can avoid losing money to corrupt government officials. She was honored with the Women of Peace award in 2008 for her successes.
An author and successful marketing director for Deepak Chopra and Glyck Communications, Vivian Glyck currently lives in San Diego with her husband and son, though she is a native New Yorker. She also enjoys Bikram Yoga, bike riding, and spinning.
